I played the sword fighting game on Wii Sports Resort for about four hours yesterday and now my arm hurts like it has never hurt in my whole life. The worst part is I really want to play more but my arm is in so much pain I can’t pick up the controller.

I stayed in Fort Lauderdale last night, right on the beach. I forgot that Gatsbys made a record down here like 7 years ago but I totally recognized a couple spots from when we were here.

Crunchy French Toast courtesy of Mother’s in PDX. After dipping the challah bread in batter, they roll it around in corn flakes and then fry it up. Unbelievable.

I ate at this pub in Pensacola Florida last night called Maguire’s. They have this amazing bean soup there that only costs 18 cents a bowl, and they serve it with a whole loaf of bread that’s covered in amazing honey butter glaze. All this with a pitcher of this holiday ale which tasted like cinnamon, nutmeg, and apples and my whole bill was like 6 bucks. I wish I lived at...

I watched Cloverfield last night. The actors are a little bit on the obnoxious side but overall Cloverfield is still a cool movie. I think what bugs me is how throwaway all the characters are in the movie, I really don’t care for any of the people on screen besides the HUD character and he is just tolerable. What I love is the action and the destruction and how the filmmakers sell it using...

I can’t stand getting stuck behind people with too much luggage in the security line at the airport. They should make an express line for people who only have 1 bag. I don’t know why the airlines don’t charge by the pound at this point. Sell tickets at 25 cents per pound per flight hour, for combined passenger/luggage weight. It only makes sense, the aircraft burns X amount of...

10-30-09 My good friend Tony is moving to Colorado, so I volunteered to make the drive with him. It’s a beautiful drive for the most part, Washington and Oregon have unbelievable scenery. We’ve been jamming Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes (which would be the greatest tour ever in my opinion) so far this morning and the conversation is great. It’s just nice spending time with a...

09-29-09 The company I work for recently acquired another company. When they printed up identification badges for the employees of the newly acquired company, they incorrectly imprinted the magnetic strips on the backs of them. So my job this week is to sit at a desk in their office with an old pc laptop and a magnetic strip encoder and imprint the correct information on each employee’s...

As I type this, I am reclining in my seat, catnapping across the Atlantic on my way back to JFK where this adventure first began. In just 12 days I have been in New York, Venice, Verona, Milan, Bellagio, Cinque Terre, Pisa, Florence, Tuscany, and Rome. I had the time of my life with my best friends. I saw so many amazing sights, I tasted dozens of wonderful (and terrible) things, and I drank the...

Heidi and I had one of the worst night’s sleep of the whole trip. We woke up sore and exhausted, but we got cleaned up and trudged down the stone-hewn steps into Vernazza one last time. After dropping the keys to the apartment off, we had a couple tasty cappuccinos and headed out for Pisa Aeroporto. The Pisa Centrale train was seriously delayed and we nearly missed our flight, but we made it...

It was a miracle that Billy was able to get Jay out of bed in time to make the flight. It was a really close call but they made it back to the states in one piece. The Places And Numbers record was in the can, the guys were on their way, and I didn’t have to be back to work for a few more days, so Heidi and I hopped a train for Cinque Terre. She had always wanted to see it so I figured we...

We started the morning by bidding Casey a fond farewell. He was homesick for his girlfriend and we finished our tracking in Tuscany so he jumped on a flight home a day earlier than the guys. It was definitely feeling like we were coming to the end of our odyssey. We hiked up the street to the top of the Spanish steps, meandered down to the bottom and found our way to the Trevi Fountain, where we...

We caught the first bus out of Greve at 5:45 am. Billy and Jay were still drunk from their celebration the night before but somehow stumbled their way to the bus stop. From Florence we took a long train ride to Rome to meet up with Heidi at the Termini station. Unfortunately I hadn’t coordinated our rendezvous very well, so an hour and a couple twitter messages later we found Heidi and got...

Casey and I started the day doing some tracking in the hotel room while Billy and Jayme did some research regarding transportation to the local wineries. It was Billy’s birthday and we celebrated in high style by renting scooters and racing them all over the beautiful Tuscan countryside. We all agreed the landscape was some of the most beautiful we had ever seen. There have been a few...

We all slept terribly our first night in Chianti. The guys were sick and I had been nursing a non-stop headache since my collision with the concrete slab in Vernazza, and frankly we woke up feeling like shit! We stumbled downstairs to partake of the hotel’s complimentary breakfast, which was actually pretty good, consisting of cheese, salami, bread, fruit, yogurt, juice, and a few other...

We woke up in Vernazza in varying states but all of us were in pain of some sort. I felt like I got hit by a bus from my wipeout when we were swimming, Casey was coming down with a cold, and Jay and Billy were sick/hungover. We gingerly made our way down to the harbor and had coffee and pastries. Jay trekked up into the hills to get some shots of the town while we bought postcards and fruit. One...

We got a relatively early start to the day and caught the first ferry from Bellagio to Varenna. We had coffee and pastries at a little lakeside cafe and then caught a train to Monterosso by way of Milano. The train took us down the coast of the Italian Riviera and to the Cinque Terre, which are five villages built vertically into the cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean. We skipped Monterosso, it...

I woke up to the local church bells ringing the 12 o’clock hour in. I had a decent headache (as did the rest of the guys) so we headed down to the local cafe that our new Australian expatriate Jen worked at. We had nice cappucinos and headed out to start our day. We stopped at a couple local shops and bought a variety of cheeses, a bunch of grapes, and a good amount of salami and...

We were gonna try for an early start but we were so hungover from the night before that we didn’t get out of the hotel room until 1 pm. We caught a train to Milan and from there another train to Varenna, which is pretty far up in northern Italy, on the shore of Lake Como. We had dinner in Varenna, which aside from the bruschetta wasn’t that great, and then we caught a ferry to...

Those of us who slept woke up and had breakfast in bed while we watched the beautiful landscape slide past beneath us. After we landed we walked to a dock near the airport and caught a water bus into the city proper. We got off at St Mark’s Square and had cappuccino at the Florian Cafe, which is the oldest cafe in Venice. Then we navigated a decent amount of narrow alleys and small...

I met up with Casey, Jayme, and Billy at JFK. I hadn’t seen any of them in months so it was great to catch up over a few beers at an airport bar. Then we got on the nicest airplane any of us had ever been on. We all sat in first class in these crazy chairs that were all automated and could fold completely flat into beds. They served us champagne while we were waiting to depart. After a...
